2011 nissan frontier review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. In front is a distinctive grille and pronounced fender flares that give it a certain robust appeal. Inside is a continuation of the purposeful look, with all the controls in places that make them easy to reach and operate. the ride is good with all models, and the handling is tight and fairly nimble. All king cab trims have a six-foot cargo bed, while crew cab models offer five- or six-foot bed lengths. for 2011, the names and features of some of the trim levels have changed, although the model itself remains the same. Trim levels on the 2011 nissan frontier are primarily the same across both king cab and crew cab models, except crew cab models are only available with the larger engine. It comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission, 15-inch steel wheels, manually operated windows, front bucket seats and cloth upholstery. Both get better tires, a chrome front bumper, a sliding rear window, keyless entry, cruise control, full power accessories, upgraded cloth upholstery and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel. Options for the sv include a premium utility package, which comes with a spray-in bed liner, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, steering wheel-mounted controls, bluetooth and an upgraded six-speaker stereo system with satellite radio and a six-disc cd player. The v6 models come standard with a six-speed manual or an optional 5-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is available on this trim level. frontier pro-4x 26,620) is designed for serious off-roading and includes 16-inch alloy wheels, off-road tires, bilstein off-road shocks, a locking rear differential, fog lights, underbody skid plates and a spray-in bed liner with tie-downs. Inside, the 2011 nissan frontier pro-4x gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, distinctive interior trim and gauges, a trip computer, built-in first aid kit and an upgraded rockford fosgate audio system. The optional luxury package adds a roof rack and cross bars, a sunroof, heated mirrors, leather upholstery, a rear armrest and heated power front seats. frontier sl 28,880), only available on crew cab models, comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and includes most of the luxury options available on the pro-4x, but does not have the rugged mechanical upgrades such as the off-road suspension and tires. safety equipment on all 2011 nissan frontier models includes two-stage front airbags, side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags, a tire-pressure monitor and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution. Crew cab models have three-point seat belts for all rear-seat occupants, including the center position, plus the latch child seat anchor system. All 2011 nissan frontiers equipped with the v6 engine also get standard traction control. walkaroundthere's a family resemblance between the midsize nissan frontier and the full-size titan, but the frontier is two feet shorter and feels like it. After climbing out of a titan, the frontier seems like a nice, tidy size that is perfectly suited to most light to moderate jobs. the grille, headlights and front fascia convey an assertive look. The fender flares are big and smooth. The front end is clean, and the wheels have a lot of style. The crew cab looks rugged and purposeful with the optional roof rack. the available utili-track bed channel tie-down system uses five rails (two on the floor and one on each side and forward bulkhead) and cleats that slide in the channels, and allows all kinds of cargo to be tied securely in place. interiorthe interior is comfortable and well arranged, with good rugged standard fabric upholstery (the pro-4x trim has stylish red stitching on its black fabric seats). Gauges are attractive and easy to read, and controls are nicely laid-out and well within reach. The center console is deep, and there are lots of other places for storage, including cubbies forward of the shift lever, cupholders galore and a very thoughtful dual-level glovebox. Not to be left out, rear-seat passengers get cupholders, map pockets, grab handles, and an optional folding center armrest. the steering wheel has short sturdy stalks, and there are convenient grab handles on the a pillars. The vinyl dashboard is less attractive in brown, but just fine in black. On the road, the 261 hp v6 engine has very strong acceleration. The five-speed automatic transmission shifts in and out of fifth gear frequently, even at fairly low speeds during casual driving, but always smoothly and often invisibly. Unfortunately, that takes its toll on gas mileage. On the highway, it didn't feel like we were driving a big truck. Driving off-road on fire trails was no problem, thanks in part to good, supportive seats. Off-road, the frontier is very capable. It rides and steers well on gravel roads in 4wd, and on pavement, its ride is nice and its handling is tight. High performance, high practicality. introductionthe nissan altima is a roomy, comfortable, practical mid-size sedan. It's designed to please fewer people, but to please those few more intensely. in this respect the altima reminds us more of mazda's mid-size sedan, the mazda6. Both offer stand-out styling; both surrender some refinement for gains in handling response. In other ways, however, they are diametric opposites: the lean and wiry mazda is the smallest car in this class, powered by a choice of high-winding engines; while the muscular nissan tops the class in both horsepower and wheelbase and is one of the roomiest cars in the class. the altima delivers stunning acceleration when ordered with its 250-horsepower v6, essentially the same engine used in the nissan 350z and maxima. Punch it in any gear and it takes off, with nimble handling and brakes to match its thrust. The high-performance altima se-r adds 10 more horsepower and even more sports appeal. Altima's interior was redesigned for 2005, which resulted in an improved cabin. Altima also received some mild styling enhancements and a slight boost to its v6 for 2005. Air conditioning and a stereo are not included, however. Anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and brake assist are standard. Unique front and rear fascias and its own rear spoiler, compact fog lights, side-sill spoilers, and large dual exhaust finishers highlight the exterior. Inside, the se-r gets sport leather seats, dark chrome trim, and a three-pod center-mounted gauge package. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but the five-speed automatic is available as a no-cost option. safety features include dual-stage frontal airbags. Optional: side-impact airbags designed to provide torso protection for driver and front passenger and roof-mounted curtain airbags designed to provide head protection for front and rear passengers in a side impact or rollover. We strongly rec. walkaroundthe nissan altima is a big car by mid-size standards, bigger than the current toyota camry and honda accord. Its wheels are pushed to the far corners, giving it a long wheelbase and wide track for stability at high speeds. The long wheelbase leaves plenty of room for passengers, and for large doors to let them in and out. cast in the style of a european sedan, the altima looks more like something from volkswagen or audi than honda or toyota. Yet the altima also has more exterior design detail than the camry or accord, with creased mirrors, integrated foglamps and other subtle cues. Altima's sloping roofline is reminiscent of a coupe. Its high trunk lid is set off by bold round taillights, turn signals and backup lights set in a triangular-shaped cover. nissan subtly restyled the altima for 2005 for a more aggressive look. The new hood looks more athletic, with a muscular bulge suggesting a powerful engine. It ranks at or near the top of the class in interior roominess. There's more front legroom here than in all but the largest vehicles on the road. The front seats are quite comfortable and large enough for larger bodies. Changes included a new instrument panel, a new center stack and a new center console. Seat materials, trim finishes and the headliner were upgraded and new chrome accents were added. Overall it's a vast improvement over earlier models and closer to toyota and honda levels, but still not quite there. The cloth upholstery is okay and the material used on the dash is nice, but the lids on the front of the center console are flimsy. the altima is a comfortable car, however, and driver visibility is excellent. The dashboard is set relatively low, with a binnacle directly in front of the driver containing speedometer, tachometer, and water temperature and fuel gauges. The instruments glow orange in the dark, offering less interference to night vision. The three-spoke steering wheel tilts and telescopes to help optimize driving position. The shifter on models with manual transmissions is somewhat long, with long throws. the available navigation display is located at the top of the center stack and it works well. Audio controls are mounted high on the center stack for easy access. At the top are two rows of buttons, used to control audio, trip computer, and navigation functions, with a small joy stick in the center. Heating/air conditioning control knobs lie directly below and are easy to locate with minimal distraction. air conditioning vents are flush-mounted on the dash. Seams for the passenger-side airbag are invisible, cleverly hidden in a large expanse of unembellished dashboard surface. The center console has cupholders large enough for one-liter bottles. A power port inside the center console storage area is useful for cell phones. There's an adjustable elbow rest. The parking brake is a proper handbrake, located front and center. The windows can be opened with the remote key fob (by holding down the unlock button), a nice feature on hot summer days. the rear seats are supportive and comfortable, with good legroom and sufficient headroom. A 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit comfortably behind a 6-foot, 4-inch drive.
